THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE Cover Reveal!
/Happy New Year, reader friends! Wishing you and your families all the best in 2023!
I'm thrilled to be able to share with you the hot-off-the-presses cover for FBI K-9s #8, THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE, as well as the back cover copy for the book. Been dying to know what Meg, Webb, McCord, and, of course, Hawk, are up to in their next adventure? Well, here you go...
FBI handler Meg Jennings and her search-and-rescue K-9 partner, Hawk, race to find survivors after a building collapses, and find that the stakes are higher than ever before.
There are situations that fill even the most seasoned FBI K-9 handlers with shock and horror. Meg Jennings is preparing for another work day when she gets words of a catastrophic scene in downtown Washington, D.C. Part of a twelve-story condo building has collapsed, and the rest of the structure could soon follow. Every search-and-rescue worker and K-9 team is needed on-site immediately to find survivors—and assess the casualties.
Putting aside her fears for her firefighter fiancé, who’s already inside the unstable building, Meg turns to the task at hand. If anyone is still alive within the rubble, she and Hawk, working alongside other K-9 teams, must find them. Every hour, every moment counts—and a wrong move could trigger a deadly chain reaction for those buried beneath. But beyond the present danger is a deeper threat, as evidence indicates that this wasn’t a random tragedy, but an act of domestic terrorism. And identifying the culprit and motivation, in time to stop another attack, means taking on an enemy with terrifying skills—and nothing left to lose.
Didn't Kensington do an amazing job on the cover? Their art department is once again on point! I knew this one would be tough because of the subject matter, but they really came through.
For everyone who makes the logical leap to the collapse of Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida, yes, that was the inspiration for this book. Not to take advantage of a tragic situation, never that, but because, following the collapse, I watched the rescue crews respond, especially those with dogs. It was a situation that absolutely put their lives at risk, but they jumped in with everything they had, putting it all on the line for the slim chance of saving just one more life. It was an incredible display of courage and skill, and I wanted to highlight that aspect of rescue life. So this is a story told strictly from the POV of the first responders—Meg, Brian, and the dogs on the pile, Webb inside the standing structure, McCord trying to figure out what caused the collapse, Cara and her therapy dog, Saki, trying to comfort families and first responders alike. It's an all-hands-on-deck kind of book.
THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE comes to you on November 28, 2023, and pre-order links will go live in the next few weeks.
